"Safety in numbers"  2008
A melancholic portrait of the soul of a public building. Observed through the ariel acrobatics of dust motes and the gentle warming of carpeted floors by the late afternoon sun the internal spaces of the venerable district court building of Berlin reveal themselves to be a comic mixture of austere and baroque, no one seems to inhabit this building, lift motors hum tunelessly, typewriters remember fondly the small arms fire of long forgotten skirmishes and ghostly voices recite echoey monologues, but not a single living soul bears witness to their veracity.

Woman surrounded by buckets

"Do I dare to eat a peach"  2007
We live our lives with water; it is the ubiquitous solvent of our daily dirt. We all need fresh water to drink but everyday we use billions of litres of drinking water to wash away the abjected dirt of our own, and of other organism’s organic decomposition. We will need in the very near future to re-assess our use of water for such processes and along with that our relationship to the abject.

Specially commisioned for the Hydromemories project, This film locates itself interstitially between domestic space and the Ocean in order to examine the three-way relationship between society, the abject and water.

"There will be time to murder and create"  2007
A naked woman runs endlessly up an industrial stairwell, seemingly scared half to death of something unseen that follows from below. While addressing the standard cliches of film that one runs upstairs to escape and that a woman is always persued and is often naked, this film also questions the nature of reality and of duration.

Minstrel in coffin

"A decline in international trade" 2005

In 1929 the town council and a group of business leaders of a city in the north of England decided to mount a spectacular exhibition to encourage international trade with the area.

This very brief film juxtaposes and thus amplifies the inequities of the exhibition of a black family as a curiosity, and the practice popular in England until the late 1970s of white men adopting black makeup and curly wigs and appearing on a Saturday primetime television variety show in a parody of black musicians. The film deliberately uses the acute discomfort and embarrassment attendant to the tackling by a white woman of this subject to foreground these feelings and to expose the underlying prejudices.
